Competitive Exam Question

A is two years older than B who is twice as old as C. If the total of the ages of A, B and C be 27, then how old is B?

  1. 6

  2. 9

  3. 10

  4. 11

The correct answer is 10 Years

EXPLANATION:

Let C's age be x,
B's age be 2x,
A's age be 2x+2.

According to the question,
Sum of the ages is 27

x+2x+(2x+2)=27
3x+2x+2=27
5x+2=27
5x=25
x=25/5
x=5

B's age is 2x, that is 2*5=10

Therefore B's age is 10 Years
